 What is the main function of fixed attenuator

(1) Adjust the size of the signal in the circuit;

(2) In the comparison measurement circuit, the attenuation value of the network under test can be read directly;

(3) If some circuits require a relatively stable load impedance, an attenuator can be inserted between the circuit and the actual load impedance to buffer the change of impedance.

 If I exceed the maximum input level, will I burn out the fixed attenuator?
