FINE POLISHING AND FINISHING

Fine polishing is the process of generating a reflective surface. Typically, polishes are created by using micron or sub-micron abrasive particles in combination with a liquid. Polishing is a "wet" process. The polishing process usually uses a pad to hold the abrasive, so polishing may not be a "loose abrasive process". The material removed during polishing is very small, usually measured in microns. The surface finish of the workpiece to be polished must be of high quality prior to polishing, so pre-polishing is often a "grinding" surface.
