HOW TO PUT CABLE CHAINS ON A CAR
STEP 1
Find a safe location: Park your car on a flat and stable surface away from traffic. Make sure you have enough space to move around the vehicle comfortably.
STEP 2
Lay out the car cable chains: Carefully unravel the cable chains and lay them flat on the ground. Untangle any knots or twists in the car cable chains.
STEP 3
Position the car cable chains: Identify the drive wheels of your car. In most cases, this will be the front wheels for front-wheel-drive vehicles and the rear wheels for rear-wheel-drive vehicles. If you have an all-wheel-drive car, check the tire chain manufacturer's manual to determine the recommended wheel position for the chains.
STEP 4
Attach the car cable chains: Starting with one side of the tire, drape the cable chains over the top of the tire, ensuring that the crossbars are facing down towards the tire treads. Make sure the chains are centered on the tire.
STEP 5
Connect the ends: Bring the ends of the cable chains together behind the tire. Most car wheel chains will have a series of hooks or fasteners that allow you to secure them. Follow the instructions provided with the chains to properly connect the ends. Some chains may require you to thread the ends through a tensioning device.
STEP 6
Adjust the tension: Once the cable tire chains are connected, adjust the tension to ensure a snug fit. Refer to the instructions for the specific tensioning mechanism on your chains. This usually involves tightening or releasing tension until the chains are securely fitted around the tire.
STEP 7
Repeat for other tires: Repeat the process for the remaining tires, making sure to install chains on both sides of each tire.
STEP 8
Test the chains: After installing cable chains, slowly drive the car forward a few feet to check if the chains are properly secured. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations. If the chains are loose or not fitted correctly, readjust them as necessary.
STEP 9
Drive cautiously: When driving with cable chains, exercise caution and adjust your driving style accordingly. Drive at a reduced speed, avoid sudden acceleration or braking, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
