Tris HCl is a very important biological buffer, which is widely used in biological system diagnosis industry, such as electrophoresis and protein biotechnology. Tris HCl use has a pKa of 8.1, which makes it very suitable for biologics formulation.

2 amino 2 hydroxymethyl 1 3 propanediol hydrochloride buffer can be used in a variety of biological applications, including medium, electrophoresis separation and diagnostic reagent formulation. It can provide a stable weak alkaline environment (7.0-9.1), and the pH value of all buffers depends on temperature and concentration. For tris hydrochloride buffer, the pH increases by about 0.03 units for every 1℃ increased in temperature and decreases by 0.03-0.05 units for dilute every 10 times.
